Air Image - Taking Aerial Imagery To A New Level

My fascination of flight has been around for as long as I can remember. I have been fortunate enough to fly in a variety of aircraft, both rotary and fixed wing. I developed a keen interest for rotary winged aircraft at a very young age and I will never forget my first solo flight in a Hughes / Schweizer 300 helicopter. I especially remember the silence, the tranquility and feeling of being in control of what had seemed totally incontrolable just a couple of weeks prior to that.

Photography started as a hobby while I was still at school, and in the late 1980s Kodak E64I landed a job in London, United Kingdom, working with computer designed imagery. These images were put onto film through a Dicomed D-48 colour film recorder. This was the forefront of digital photography, as all computer imagery was still being photographed onto film before being placed into a projector or similar equipment.

Since having worked in London I have had different assignments all over the world that include pre-production planning, sourcing and storybooking for various digital media projects, as well as post-production media assembly and distribution.
Technological advances in recording digital imagery and modern-day MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology now greatly facilitate the task of capturing photo and video imagery from the air. It is no longer necessary to use costly aircraft that are limited in their operational ability to deliver a cost-effective, turn-key solution for supplying high quality, high definition digital imagery data.

The particular UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) used at Air Image, the Draganflyer X6, has been engineered from the ground up to record digital, low-level aerial imagery with ease and simplicity without compromising on quality.
